Bumped again
Well, it looks like my hours will be changing again in about two weeks. I got bumped back to second shift. I knew it was going to happen, but it makes me a little bit angry. The person who bumped me knows that these changes are extremely hard on my family. She had plenty of time to bump me before I even got to day shift. People are so damn selfish. I guess I'll just have to bide my time and wait for another chance to go to days. I just hope I can get there before Joey starts school full time next year.

Ugh, that sucks. What kind of scheduling do you guys have? Can people just randomly switch shifts, or are there periods that you pick what shift you work?
Where I work what you describe can happen, but only every six months. Once you pick a shift, you stay there until the next bid period.

Where I work you can bump once a year. doesnt matter what time of year. there are no limits to how many times you can be bumped, but you do get a free bump each time you are bumped. like thats gonna do me any good since I have no seniority

What a mess, screw that stuff. I couldn't change shifts like that all the time. That's our stupid state agencies for you, they make no fucking sense.

Tut: don't tempt me... I'm evil when I get really mad
Ogun: We have a union, but they don't give a rats ass about the new hires. Its all about the people that have been there 20 years

my former father in law and stepfather in law both had the same complaint about their unions. sounds like wes is in a dilemma over them too. luckily i have had no direct dealings with one. on the other hand i have worked at some jobs which are just screaming for some kind of oversight if for no other reason than safety issues. which is really the lesser of the two evils i wonder? union or no union?

by the way, bump her down the stairs, it's the only way to gain seniority over the fossils who won't make way for the young blood!

I would have to say that Union is the lesser of the evils. They will fight for you.
